On Thursday November 10th, JBHS hosted the annual Veteran’s Day Celebration. Those who participated in the event included student and faculty representatives of JBHS, JES, BES, students who won the Patriots Pen and the Voice of Democracy essay contests, and the members of the combined school chorus and band. Other participants included the Senior class, who led the roll call; Mrs. Smith’s Entrepreneurship class, who prepared and served breakfast; Mr. Beal’s Civics class who helped with the setup, and Mr. Campbell’s gym class who set up all the chairs in the gymnasium.
According to Mr. Beal, Veterans Day is a celebration and appreciation of the men and women who have served our country. Veterans Day is important because it is a day we set aside to let our Veterans know that they are appreciated for what they do and that also includes our active duty military. “It’s important to have a day just like our birthdays, our Christmas, or our Easter,” said Mr. Beal. “It’s important to just have this day to say, ‘this day is for you.’”
