On Saturday February 3rd, the Jonesport-Beals Royals battled the Woodland Dragons, at Baileyville and it came down to the wire in a 40-37 win. This moves the Royals’ record to 13-2.

Sophomore Kaiden Crowley led the team in a balanced effort in scoring with 10 points with Sophomore Ryan Alley chipping in 9 points. Senior Justin Worden led the Dragons, and the game in scoring with 17 points in the losing effort.

With the teams tied at 33 entering the 4th, Coach Alley decided to employ a strategy straight out of the Hoosiers film and hold and pass the ball until the defending team played defense. This move stalled the clock for about 3 minutes. Sophomore Adam Robinson hit the game winning shot, with about 30 seconds left, which led Woodland to be forced to foul to burn the clock and Ryan Alley put the game away with free throws. It was certainly an exciting game!

Up next is a match at Highview Christian Academy on Tuesday February 6th then a home rematch on February 7th! Good luck Royals!
